Arnside is a small village situated just south of the Lake District, on the opposite side of the river Kent from Grange-over-Sands. It has featured on the BBC series Villages by the Sea. It is very picturesque with many walks in the immediate area. For the more agile Arnside Knott is 50 yards away and once you catch your breath at the top, gives wonderful views, especially of Morcambe Bay. A train runs to Grange, one stop across a viaduct. The train station is a few minutes drive away with parking along the main road. There are several decent pubs, cafés, small independent shops and an art studio where often an artist is at work.
The Guest House, Parkside, is situated at the top of a hill with wonderful views. There is ample parking.
The rooms are comfortable but basic and all are ensuite. Tea/coffee making facilities are in the rooms but no television. There is of course Wi-Fi. A lift provides access to the upper floors. A pleasant dining room serves 3 daily meals at table, at set times. There is usually a choice of three or four dishes on the menu which are ordered in advance. If you want a packed lunch let them know and that will be provided in the dining room for you to pick-up after breakfast. There is also a bar … and an honesty box!
Outside there is a lovely garden with plenty of benches for sitting to admire the flowers and view, a bowling green, a putting green and an outside store containing croquet and other outdoor games equipment.
